December to Remember
This month was not a kind month for the Battalion. I have not looked at the stats to state that we had worse months during the war. BUT, looking at the years 66-71, December put a hurt on the Battalion.
We suffered 29 loses: Co's A (8) B (5) C (11) D (3) E (1) HHC (1). For my company, Charlie, all 11 loses occurred in the same year, 1968. So for me December is always a month in which my thoughts turn to those guys I knew, I guess in part because it's also Christmas. I hope where ever they are at, that they know someone, and I'm sure there are others from the Company, that we are still thinking of them.......Sarge

Flash - February 5, 2014
The 2/12th Infantry from Ft Carson began to deploy to Kandahar Province in Afghanistan this week. The length of their tour is unknown, but is believed to be in a non-combat role with it's mission to support the further withdrawal of U.S. involvement there. The objective of the U.S. is to have all personnel out of that country by the end of the year providing the agreement between Karzai and the State Department goes unsigned. The agreement calls for some military presence to continue to provide training and support to the Afghan National Police forces. Karzai is suspected of negotiating with the Taliban this past week behind our backs to further his own interests. That clown should be removed from office.

Site Problems 12/16/2013
I noticed I could not access the menu page today. Don't know how long that was going on. Finally got fed up with using the "WebRing - Military" to drive traffic to our website. Somehow, it was sending everyone to it's website. So, I blew the sucker away today. Don't need it. Maybe that will also stop the unwanted "pop up" ads that would appear when you traveled around the site. Sorry for the mess. We will see...................Sarge
Happy Thanksgiving Day!
I hope you have a great holiday spending it with family and friends and may the turkey or ham be tasty too!
is Veteran's Day. The day we acknowledge all those who served in the
Military in good times and in bad. For me, it's a day to say "well done"
to those who stood by my side and fought with me. It is also a time for
me to reflect on all those men (boys) who gave so much and did not
return home, a moment of silence and a prayer. Thank you to all who have
taken the time to recognize and thank a fellow veteran............
Story Blog and Website Info - 11/1/2013
We have been getting some garbage postings in the Story Blog that affects registered users. I have been blacking listing these entries. However, once your listing gets out into the universe, it makes it available to others. I have decided to limit "comments" to only registered users. I don't like doing this because I believe for some, they will not want to go through the trouble of doing that. I hope that if you fall into that category, that you will register and continue to be a contributor or commentator.
If you haven't noticed, I am trying to have the website reflect the "Battalion's" image and not just Charlie Co. so you will see on the splash page and the header on this menu page showing "Charlie Co & 2/12th Infantry"
I just returned from a visit to the Vietnam Wall Memorial and two weeks in Myrtle Beach for golf. Now, it's catch up time. The monthly newsletter will be delayed until mid-October do to my travel commitments. Lots to do this coming month. I will be ordering a few more belt buckles for the Warrior PX and they should be here next month.
It's been a quiet summer
I'm looking for stories to share if you have one. Maybe something of humorous nature? Don't like to write, then call me and I'll do the writing for you. Still looking for photographs (yes, my asking is getting old, but what am I to do?) if you want to share.
VET EMAIL FORM
I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM ANYONE TRYING TO ADD THEIR NAMES TO THE VET EMAIL LIST, BUT MY SUSPICION IS THAT SOME OF YOU MAY HAVE TRYING TO DO JUST THAT. THE VET EMAIL LIST THAT HAD THE LINK TO THE FORM "ADD ME TO THE LIST" WAS BE SENT TO THE WRONG FORM. IT MAY HAVE LOOKED CORRECT, BUT IT WAS INCORRECTLY SET UP. WE WILL SEE. I HAVE BEEN GETTING MANY BLANK MESSAGES THAT HAVE ORIGINATED FROM THIS PAGE. TIME WILL TELL.
Belt Buckles are available in the PX. Price is $36 (includes shipping and handling). Challenge coins and Lapel/Hat Pins are available in the PX

Happy Flag Day!
Adobe did an update to Adobe Flash, which is a software tool that runs things in your browser. Their upgrade to version 11.3.300 does NOT RUN in MOZILLA FIREFOX 13. Firefox also just upgraded their software. Internet Explorer, Chrome and Safari browsers seem to be unaffected. Do NOT update your computer to Adobe Flash 11.3.300 without visiting their website to see if they have fixed the problem. You won't have any problems if you have not done these upgrades. Just a warning about what is happening. It has taken me two days of fiddling around with the website to figure this out. - Sarge

SPECIAL THANKS TO JOE WEBB AND TO CRAIG SCHOONDERWOERD FOR THEIR DONATIONS TO THE UPKEEP OF THIS WEBSITE. EVERYONE HAS REALLY BEEN GENEROUS AND WILLING TO SUPPORT THIS EFFORT. WE HAVE PLENTY OF CASH TO HOLD US OVER NOW, EVEN WHEN I PAY THE SITE RENEWAL FEES THIS MONTH. AGAIN, MY DEEP APPRECIATION.

Remembering those who served is just as important as remembering those friends who have fallen on the field of battle. Today, I salute each and everyone of you. To my comrades in Charlie Co. - I Present Arms; and to my fallen friends, another day to remember and pay my respect. My memory of you will last as long as there is a beat to my heart.
