PHOTO ALBUM 61 - Charlie Haughey 1
Awards and Ceremonies - Part 1
Charlie Haughey arrived in Vietnam and was assigned to the 2/12th in April, 1968. He served as a rifleman with Alpha Co. About 3 months later he was asked to go up to HHC at Brigade to talk to an officer up there. Over a quick interview, unknown to Charlie, the C.O. Was looking to replace the Battalion photographer and Charlie seemed to have some of the qualifications that the C.O was interested in. After stating that he had some journalist experience (according to Charlie, a bit of a stretch in that answer) he was given the job with the understanding that this was to boost morale within the ranks. Charlie spent time in the field with all of the companies, picking where he wanted to go as each days missions where lined out. The photos in Charlie's albums are taken during this assigment and was graciously offered to be shown in our website. Charlie says that he took over two thousand shots and these are from that collection. If anyone can identify names to pictures, PLEASE contact me so I can add the name.
