Christmas Message
I can still clearly see the Christmas tree we had at FSB Pershing in 1968. I don't remember where this tree came from although it kinda looks like it was an artificial tree someone had sent from home. Being that I have the pictures of the tree, it could have been my mother; she was good at sending stuff. One time I asked for a strawberry shortcake, duh, how in the hell could that be done? I go to mailcall and get a package from home and what's inside? Do I even have to answer the question? My platoon spent Christmas down at FSB Stuart on the bridge. It was my first time away from home on that day.

At least it was a peaceful evening and the Battalion went out of its way to serve up a nice Christmas dinner and a few days later some of the men enjoyed seeing Bob Hope down at the Division basecamp in Cu Chi.
Yes, Christmas has been full of many surprises and I am sure there will be many more into the future. To everyone, a blessed Christmas Season to you all and may the Lord bless each of you with a healthy and prosperous New Year in 2021.

God Bless America and those who have fallen to keep this nation safe and free.
To Our Heroes in the Armed Forces, past and present,
This Christmas, as snowflakes fall and lights twinkle brightly, our hearts are full of gratitude for your unwavering service and dedication. Being away from loved ones during the holidays is never easy, but please know that your sacrifice is deeply appreciated and honored by all.
For all the veterans who served overseas, we remember the feeling of being separated from loved ones. Gone were the sounds of Christmas music, the dancing of lights from the trees and the aroma of a hot meal prepared by those close to us. The laughter of children and grand children who had gathered around the tree in ancticpation of opening presents. All these senses of smell and sight were absent, but the reflection of what was taking place at home was still vivid in our minds.
May this season bring you a sense of peace and warmth, no matter where you are. We wish you safety, strength, and the knowledge that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Here’s to a New Year filled with hope, joy, and the promise of a brighter tomorrow.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
